ProjectPorkchop is all about bringing more exposure to the many talented yet under appreciated artists going unseen on deviantART daily. The artists chosen truly deserve more attention based on low counts of favorites, comments, and watchers, added to their incredible artistic talent.

Welcome back for another edition of our new interview series

ProjectPorkchop: Prime Cuts

hosted by DMD-CT

This project is intended to bring the community closer to the many talented yet underexposed artists that we feature each week. Today's featured artist is lilfairywren.

"While many people know me as Ravensaura (that's Raven's Aura, not a bird/dinosaur hybrid as many believe), my real name is Chloe. I'm currently 24 years old. My work started out as a hobby after getting my first dSLR a couple of years ago, though I had a keen interest in taking pictures long before that with a little point and click. I now have my own photography business (as a sole trader) in the Wollongong area of New South Wales, Australia, where I currently live. Prior to moving here a month ago, I lived and took photos around Sydney's south west.

I'm currently attending the University of Wollongong studying a bachelor of Digital Media, in my second year (though due to hiccups and bad timing this is my 5th year at the university). This involves learning animation, video effects, and film. I hope to one day land a job with an awesome media company and climb my way to the top!"

When did you first realize that you wanted to become an artist?

I've always had a passion to be able to create something. I'd been drawing since I was able to hold anything that could make a mark. I moved on from using pencils to charcoals, and from there I went on to digital art as well. I ended up falling out of love with my work, though, and went through many months of art block. It was then I was handed a camera and told to "go learn" at my university, and I haven't put the camera down since.

What would you say defines your unique personal style?

I try and show the beauty in things. As cliche as that sounds, I love colour and I love simplicity at the same time. This goes for both my landscapes and my macros. If it's not a minimalist shot, one thing you will notice is that my images pop color!

Which piece from your gallery would you say you are most proud of?

It is actually one of my earliest pieces titled Symphony. I love this one! Every time I see it I hear music in my head. A massive clash of cymbals where the wave hits the rocks, gently fading out into a melody. I remember it taking a long time to try and get the settings just right, I'd just gotten a new set of ND filters and was trying them out, getting sprayed by the water the entire time and tourists dodging the camera. It was fun to take, and I love the way it looks.

What inspires you to create your art?

Mother nature herself! Though I suppose that's true of any nature photographer. I see forms, shapes and colours in nature that take my breath away that I want everyone else to see as well. Compositionally, I've had a lot of help from looking at other deviants work - observe, learn and practice. If I see something I like, I'll find out how it was done and apply it to my own work.

What projects are you working on currently that the community should know about? What do you have planned for the future?

I have a few things going on! I'm planning a few calendars, series' of images and also building my business in this new area. I also plan on giving dyptichs and tryptichs a try, seeing how that goes.

What first attracted you to Deviant Art?
What do you hope to accomplish in your time on this site?

I've been on deviantArt for almost 9 years now, on an account I started when I was drawing and doing digital art - punkisstillcool . I was told about it by a friend who said I'd improve a lot with my work. After I stopped drawing, I disappeared from dA for a long time. Then after deciding I wanted to publish my photography, I remembered the amazing community here, and decided to come back under a new name. I just want to continue sharing my work with people and let people see the way I see the world.

Please tell us one interesting fact about yourself that we don't know about you.

I'm a huge dork! I constantly undermine my intelligence by saying the stupidest things, and acting like an idiot at times. I also love gaming and I tend to Geek out as well.

Thank you lilfairywren for taking the time to speak with us today!
join us next week when we will be interviewing the very talented
